We recently highlighted the eight scariest videos caught on Ring, but today, we want to explore the softer side of our devices.
It’s no question that Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras help homeowners protect their property. But a surprising benefit is how it helps us stay connected to not only our homes, but also our families and our neighbourhoods. While many of our videos show crimes being committed, we’re proudest of the videos that capture the solidarity and kindness of our communities.
From long-lost reunions to heartwarming family moments, let’s take a look at eight of the most inspiring videos caught by Ring.
8. Dad Is Only a Ring Away
In our first video, we catch a sweet exchange between a father and his two young sons. As the kids are excited to head out to a school field trip, their dad gives them a piece of advice. In the case of an emergency, they can press the button on the doorbell, and dad will always be there to help.
Here at Ring, we value security and peace of mind. So we love seeing families pass along those same values to their children. We hope these kids never have to use their Ring in an emergency, but if they do, it’s nice to know that dad will always be there.
7. A Warm Welcome Home
After spending a month away from home, Mike took a late-night flight on Father’s Day to surprise his wife and their loving canine friend.
There’s really nothing else we can say about this moment, because the video speaks for itself. We’re just glad that Ring was there to capture this memory for Mike and his family.
6. Delivering Peace of Mind
We’re big fans of great postmen and delivery drivers, and this is just one example of the amazing people who deliver our mail and packages on a daily basis.
The Maguire family had purchased a Ring Video Doorbell to protect their home and watch over their young son. One day, a friendly courier pressed their doorbell to drop off a package, and the Maguire’s son opened the door and greeted the lady. Instead of handing him the package and walking away, the courier made sure that the kid had closed and locked the door before she left.
It’s a small gesture, but small gestures like this go a long way to making our communities stronger and safer for all. Thanks to all the postmen and delivery drivers who go out of their way to provide outstanding customer service!
5. Ding-Dong Ditch Brings Family Together
This next video comes all the way from Sandnes, Norway. A kid runs up to the Forland family’s Video Doorbell, presses the button and darts away. We all did it when we were kids, but instead of annoying the family, this young ding-dong ditcher actually helped bring the Forlands together.
As it turns out, the entire family was out of town at the time. First, the father answers the Doorbell alert from a cabin in the Norwegian Woods. Then, his wife answers while she’s on a business trip all the way in Singapore. And just a few seconds later, their daughter joins the conversation from Sweden.
Our Norwegian isn’t great, so we’re not sure what they’re talking about. But it’s amazing to see how one small prank can bring together a family that’s scattered around the world.
4. Kitty Comes Home
There’s something about pets that brings us all together. Whether you’re a “dog person” or a “cat person,” we can all relate to the comfort that our furry friends bring to all of us, and we all know the despair that comes when our pets get lost.
Thanks to a couple of friendly neighbours, this homeowner was reunited with her lost cat, and Ring was there to film it all.
3. A Reunion for the Dogs
Here’s another video that almost speaks for itself.
Linda’s canine companion had been lost for four days. When an elderly couple showed up at her door with a furry surprise, Linda couldn’t hold back her gratitude.

2. A Prayer at Your Door
Troy’s mother-in-law Freda suffers from Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and his family requested a prayer service for their stricken matriarch. But unfortunately, the family was out of the house when church-member Dave came over to offer his prayers.
With the help of a Ring Video Doorbell, Dave was able to deliver his prayer while Freda and the rest of the family watched and listened from their smartphones.
This is just another example of how invaluable our community can be during times of need. We hope the prayer provided some comfort to Troy’s family during this difficult time.
1. Lost Grandpa Found by Ring
Nikki’s family had purchased a Ring Video Doorbell to watch over her parents’ home, but they probably never thought it would be used for this purpose.
Nikki’s grandfather had a fall that resulted in a head injury, and he had been in and out of the hospital ever since. While in a hospital waiting room, the grandfather went outside for some fresh air, and he never returned.
In a panic, the family searched everywhere, and they even enlisted police officers, search dogs and helicopters to help. It was over 100°F in Florida at the time, and the family feared the worst.
After several hours, Nikki’s mom received a Ring alert on her phone, and sure enough, there was grandpa waiting for the family at her front door.
“I walked every step of the way from the hospital,” said the grandfather, who walked over seven miles in the blazing sun. Nikki sent us a letter to say thanks, but we’re just grateful to help out our Ring families in every possible way.
